Hi!

I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Additionally, I collaborate with the Development Research Group (DEC) and the Africa Gender Innovation Lab (GIL) at the World Bank. I hold a Ph.D. in Development Economics from the Graduate Institute of Geneva (IHEID).

As an applied economist, my research focuses on gender dynamics and development, with an emphasis on agriculture, small-scale enterprises, and social norms. I study gender disparities, particularly in Africa and Latin America, with a focus on women’s empowerment and the socio-economic factors that influence gender gaps. I am passionate about developing innovative methodologies for data collection and analysis to generate actionable insights.

About Me

My current research focuses on the impacts of unconditional cash transfer programs and bundled package initiatives on the livelihoods of ultra-poor households in rural Nigeria. I examine general equilibrium effects and the implications for household dynamics and gender roles within these programs.

Additionally, I investigate productivity differences between male and female smallholders in Nigeria and Ethiopia, focusing on the underlying causes. This includes examining factors such as labor and time use allocation, using high-frequency data to provide detailed insights into agricultural activities and gender disparities.

I also explore how societal expectations shape labor force participation, household decision-making, and opportunities for economic empowerment globally. My findings advocate for inclusive economic policies that promote both growth and gender equality.

I have extensive experience in research, fieldwork, and impact evaluation. Previously, I worked with the Impact Evaluation unit of the Development Research Group (DIME) and institutions such as the Center of Economic Development Studies (CEDE) at Los Andes University, Colombia; QUANTIL S.A.S Applied Mathematics; Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA); and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). I hold a BA and an MA in Economics from Los Andes University, Bogota, Colombia.

I am a fellow at the Sylff Association, affiliated with the Gender Center at the Graduate Institute of Geneva, and actively involved in the 'Rare Voice in Economics' initiative. Outside of my work, I enjoy reading feminist literature, biking, and traveling
